Fixed Orthodontic Appliances

Fixed orthodontic appliances play a crucial role in orthodontic treatment, especially when it comes to arch development. These appliances consist of brackets, bands, and wires that are fixed to the teeth, allowing for precise control and manipulation of tooth movement. Ohlendorf Appliance laboratory provides dentists with custom fixed orthodontic appliances to help align patients teeth, correct bite issues, and create harmonious dental arches for children and adults.

Arch Development

Our arch development orthodontics facilitate the proper positioning of teeth within the arch, leading to improved aesthetics, better functionality, and long-term oral health benefits. Additionally, arch development with fixed appliances can address overcrowding, spacing issues, and overall symmetry of the smile, contributing to a confident and healthy dental structure.

Rapid Palatal Expander – RPE

Used for slow or rapid palatal expansion to create space to uncrowd the arch and create better arch form. Rapid expansion can help open the airway. It can also be used to correct a posterior crossbite.

Nitanium Palatal Expander- NPE

Pre-activated, self activating upper expansion appliance that provides slow expansion to create space to uncrowd the teeth and create better arch form. Also rotates the molars to create some arch length. Only available for the Upper arch development.

TransForce Transverse Expander

Pre-activated, self activating upper or lower expansion appliance that provides slow expansion to create space to uncrowd the teeth and create better arch form. Can be made for the upper or the lower arch.

Fan Expander

Maxillary Expansion Appliance to widen the anterior portion of the arch. The screw opens in a fan or wedge and a hinge in the posterior prevents expansion in the molar region. Good arch development orthodontics appliance to correct “V” shaped arches and uncrowd the anterior segment.

Schwartz Fixed Orthodontic Appliances

Mandibular slow expander to upright the posterior teeth to create space to uncrowd the lower arch and create better arch form. The Fixed Schwartz is one of the top reliable fixed orthodontics appliances for adults and children.

3D Skeletal Expander

Mandibular slow expansion appliance. A smaller screw is placed in acrylic and is more gentile to the tongue. Good option when there is a severely lingual incisor that is blocked out of the arch. It is fabricated on Wilson 3D slots for easy adjustments.

Williams Expander

Mandibular expander for younger patients where the 1st molars have not erupted enough to band. A wire is extended to the 1st molars so they will expand along with the rest of the arch. A lingual wire helps to align the anteriors as the arch is expanded.

3D Wilson Multi Action

Maxillary light wire Fixed/Removable appliance that can be used to widen the arch and flare the anteriors forward. The arch development appliance can be removed from the bands for the doctor to activate it, but the patient cannot remove it.

3D Wilson Quad Action

Mandibular version of the Multi Action. Fixed/Removable appliance to widen the lower arch, upright the posterior segments and flare the anteriors forward. This arch development orthodontics appliance can be removed from the bands for the doctor to activate it, but the patient cannot remove it.

Super Screw Expander

Maxillary expander used for slow or rapid expansion. It is similar to the RPE, but uses a different type of screw. The screw requires a special wrench to activate it. Some patients find it easier to adjust than the RPE screw.

E – Arch Development Orthodontics Appliance

Maxillary or Mandibular pre-activated expansion appliance. The open coil spring provides the force to expand the arch. There is nothing that needs to be adjusted or activated by the doctor or the patient.

Upper CD Distalizer

Maxillary molar distalizing appliance to create arch length to uncrowd the arch. The doctor is in complete control of the activation and the amount of distalization that occurs. It is strong enough to distalize the 1st and 2nd molars together. Requires no patient compliance.

Lower CD Distalizer

Mandibular molar distalizing appliance to create arch length to uncrowd the arch. The doctor is in complete control of the activation and the amount of distalization that occurs. It is strong enough to distalize the 1st and 2nd molars together. Requires no patient compliance.

TransForce Sagittal

Maxillary or Mandibular appliance to flare the anteriors forward. The appliance is pre-activated and pre-adjusted to move the teeth. Composite Anchors are needed on the lingual of 2 teeth to hold the appliance in place and prevent it from riding up the lingual of the teeth.

3 Way Barrel Expander

Maxillary 3 screw Sagittal to expand the arch and develop the premaxilla forward. Creates arch width and length to uncrowd the arch and advance a deficient Premaxilla.

CD Advancer

Maxillary Anterior Drive Sagittal to advance the premaxilla forward. An expansion screw can be added if needed. The doctor makes all the adjustments. Composite Anchors should be placed on the lingual of 2 anterior teeth to prevent the appliance from sliding down the lingual of the teeth and help direct the force in the proper direction.

Magill Sagittal

Maxillary or Mandibular Sagittal appliance with multiple design options. An expansion screw can be added if needed. The appliance can be designed to distalize or drive the premaxilla forward. This is a patient activated appliance.

Rick-a-Nator

Maxillary bite plane to advance the mandible and increase the vertical. The bite plane can be flat for vertical only or an incline plane to advance the mandible and help open the bite. Made with Wilson 3D Slots on the molar bands so it can be removed without having to take off the bands.

Rick-a-Nator Plus

Rick-a-Nator with an expansion screw to widen the arch. The bite plane can be flat or inclined. Made with Wilson 3D Slots on the molar bands so it can be removed without having to take off the bands.

Banded Twin Block

Fixed version of the Twin Block to correct Class II Division I cases. Proper arch form is needed before using this appliance. This appliance will advance the mandible and reduce the overjet but will not increase the vertical. A Rick-a-Nator is placed after the Twin Block to help increase the vertical and close the posterior open bite.

Banded Herbst

Maxillary and Mandibular appliance that work together to advance the mandible and correct Class II cases. The mandible can be advanced during treatment by adjusting the buccal arms if additional advancement is needed.

Upper Fixed Orthodontic Appliances

Upper fixed orthodontic appliances, also known as upper braces, are a specific type of fixed orthodontic treatment that focuses on correcting alignment and bite issues in the upper jaw or arch. These appliances typically consist of brackets, bands, and wires that are affixed to the teeth in the upper jaw, allowing for targeted adjustments to achieve proper tooth alignment and arch development.

Upper fixed orthodontic appliances play a crucial role in addressing issues such as crowding, spacing, overbites, underbites, and other malocclusions that may affect the upper teeth and jaw. By applying controlled forces to the upper teeth, these appliances help shift them into their optimal positions, leading to improved aesthetics, better functionality, and overall oral health. Additionally, upper fixed orthodontic appliances can contribute to a balanced bite, proper jaw alignment, and a confident smile.

Lower Arch Development Orthodontics

Lower fixed orthodontic appliances, commonly referred to as lower braces, are essential components of orthodontic treatment aimed at addressing alignment and bite issues specifically in the lower jaw or arch. These appliances consist of brackets, bands, and wires that are securely attached to the teeth in the lower jaw, allowing for targeted adjustments to correct misalignments and achieve proper arch development.

Lower fixed orthodontic appliances play a significant role in treating conditions such as crowding, spacing irregularities, underbites, overjets, and other lower jaw-related malocclusions. By exerting controlled forces on the lower teeth, these appliances help reposition them effectively, leading to enhanced aesthetics, improved functionality, and long-term oral health benefits. Additionally, lower arch development orthodontics contribute to a balanced bite, harmonious jaw alignment, and a smile that instills confidence.
